The “Achterhookse Folkloredansers” is a folkloristic dance group of 40 enthusiastic men and women, young and old, living in Ruurlo, a village in the east part of The Netherlands. Through their dances and costumes they want to keep the tradition alive the way their parents and grandparents did at the beginning of the 20th century.

Whether in their own region, in other parts of the country or abroad, they travel almost everywhere to show the public their dances and costumes. Recently visits were made to Portugal, Hungary, Germany, Portugal, Rumania and the United States of America.

Founded in 1937, this group is one of the oldest in the country. Every year they organize the regional famous street fair, (this year, 2007, the 28th ) as well as other events like regional contests, international folklore festivals and folklore wedding parties.

In 1997 for their 60th anniversary an international festival was organized with 5 international groups participating. The work was immense and successful too.

Now in 2007 fot their 70th anniversary there is also an international festival. See festival
